Carson served on the City Commission from 2010 to 2020, including a term as Vice Mayor. She spent the six years before this run as a full-time caregiver for her mother.
In an interview with OutSFL she described her priorities as wider public access to city government and representation for marginalised residents; revising Article 30 to streamline development approvals and reduce parking requirements; more density along transit corridors; a hotel on the Drive handled carefully; workforce housing, including smaller minimum unit sizes; parks and gathering space; drainage and pipe resilience; and vacation rental enforcement.
